Customer tracking and health checks

New features

Customer order tracking notifications

  • Customers will now receive an SMS message the day before their job sheet is scheduled with a tracking link.
    • This enables them to check order details and update their customer record information.
    • This setting can be disabled: Credits → Settings → Send Customer Order Tracking Info.

Customer check-in app

  • Accessible via the garage admin, this allows customers to check in for a job and notify garage staff when work is ready to begin.
  • Customers can also check or update their details.
  • Designed for use on an in-garage tablet or via QR code/website for personal device access.

Credit reporting

  • Location credits overview now includes visual charts:
    • Allocated vs. actual usage per month
    • Cost breakdown by credit type (e.g. SMS, VRN, Address)
    • Shared credit usage by location
  • Additional context is shown in reporting for how credits were used (e.g. SMS sent for order tracking).

Vehicles re-structure

  • VRN lookups now only incur a credit cost for:
    • A brand-new vehicle
    • An explicit “Update vehicle info” action on an existing vehicle
  • A new Vehicles section has been added to the location admin area.
    • Includes live update controls, job sheet links, MOT history, and health check reports (UK only).

MOT history (UK only)

  • When a UK VRN search is performed, MOT history is imported and displayed (where available).
  • MOT history is accessible from the new Vehicles section.

Vehicle health check reports (UK only)

  • Health check reports can now be created and updated for vehicles.
    • These can be linked to job sheets and sent directly to customers.
  • Report visits via tracking links are now logged in the system.
  • Reports can be accessed from various areas:
    • Calendar
    • Job sheet task board
    • Daily report
    • Vehicles section

🔧 Improvements

Miscellaneous

  • Additional Help & Tips content added to support the new functionality.
  • Location logos can be added via the Simple GMS support team — these now appear on vehicle health check reports.
